Wingstop Awards High School Scholar Athlete of the Month

Kodii Church of John Horn High School named October Athlete of the Month

RICHARDSON, Texas (November 13, 2013) –Wingstop nominates its third 2013-14 school year High School Scholar Athlete of the Month, a program also sponsored by KTVT-TV CBS.

Each month, Wingstop and KTVT-TV CBS invite viewers, athletic directors, coaches and members of the community to nominate exceptional athletes from the Metroplex to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Wingstop. Kodii Church, a student at John Horn High School, was selected for the month of October for her ability to excel in academia along with her athletic accomplishments. The scholarship initiative was launched in January 2012 by the Wingstop D-FW co-op, which includes more than 75 restaurants throughout the North Texas region.

“It is a privilege to be able to give back to the kids in our school districts that are deserving,” said Wingstop D-FW Advertising Co-op President Rex Heckelman. “With their continued hard work and perseverance, they will be future leaders, and we hope this scholarship will help them achieve their goals.”

Church, an exceptional athlete and Varsity track member, has balanced both athletics and academics in her duration at John Horn High School. She holds a 3.4 GPA throughout her honors classes and is involved in the community. Church volunteers not only at her high school , but mentors, tutors and coaches children at many schools in Carrolton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD).
